Innovative "Single-Fiber" Mode Converter Benefits ATM, FDDI & Fast Ethernet applications

The new TC3007 "Single-Fiber" Mode Converter is an innovative connectivity device that benefits users in various LAN environments by increasing fiber optic cable capacity (multiplexing), cross-connecting different fiber types/wavelengths or re-generating optical signals.

It simultaneously functions both as a Fiber Optic Mode Converter/Repeater and a 2-Channel Wave Division Multiplexer. It converts multimode format to single mode format (and vice versa) and combines Tx/Rx signals for transmission over a single fiber. Transmitting Tx/Rx signals over a single fiber benefits users by either doubling existing cable capacity or reducing cable requirements by one-half.

The TC3007 is especially popular because it accepts 850nm/1310nm at either end---eliminating some multiplexer vendors' requirement to supply 1310nm at one end and 1550nm at the other. It is transparent to incoming data and protocols. Under normal conditions it will support distances up to 50 km or more.

The TC 3007 is compatible with all popular connectivity technologies including Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI, TAXI, ATM and SONET (OC1 & OC3). Built-in power redundancy is standard and provides load sharing and automatic switch over in the event of a failure. Power can be either 12VDC, -24VDC, -48VDC, 115/230VAC, 230VAC or 240VAC.
