TC Communications releases JumboBank - The solution to channel bank obsolescence

IRVINE, CA - TC Communications today announced the release of JumboBank™, a channel bank replacement featuring a rotary switch for easy setup and offering a seamless path for a future upgrade to IP. JumboBank builds on TC Communications’ industry leading products, JumboSwitch® and Mini Channel Bank, and helps critical networks take a more thoughtful migration approach to addressing channel bank obsolescence while protecting their investments.

Channel banks combine multiple single lines into multichannel communications lines, or in other words combine multiple analog lines over one digital line. Critical networks like power utilities employ an array of legacy communications equipment and infrastructure to transport voice and sensitive data. These devices have been in use for decades and network managers rely on their proper functioning for mission-critical operations. While some manufacturers have failed to modernize their channel banks, leaving many network managers with unsupported equipment that is critical to their network operation, JumboBank provides a modern variation on the standard channel bank allowing utilities to migrate quickly to a modern solid-state platform. TC Communications offers these critical network managers a full range of options for migration paths forward.

Also included on the JumboBank is the R2 (Reset*Reset) button that was first introduced on the Mini Channel Bank. The R2 button allows users to download the status of the remote site including alarms so they can troubleshoot issues from either location. In addition, remote and local alarms can be simply cleared from either location.

While many critical networks will eventually move to IP based infrastructure, existing channel banks require wholesale replacement of equipment. Jumbobank has a simple plug and play upgrade to an IP backbone preserving the investment for many years to come. Additionally, JumboBank can be used with our Mini Channel Bank and JumboSwitch solutions to allow customers to select the best option for every requirement.
