TC Communications’ Emergency Phone Bridge Chosen for “Hot Products” Award at APCO Expo

10/31/2012

An innovative Emergency Phone Line Bridge from TC Communications has been chosen by Public Safety Communications (PSC) magazine as a winner in its annual “Hot Products” award program.

The Model TC8938 Emergency Phone Line Bridge accelerates response times by creating an immediate, time-saving party line connection in which airport or mass transportation personnel only need to explain or update a crisis situation one time. For example, if an emergency at an airport occurs, picking up the master phone in the control tower will automatically ring remote telephone extensions at designated local police, fire, ambulance, and health facility locations.

The Hot Products award program was conducted during the August 2012 Association of Public Safety Communications Officials-International Conference & Exposition by an anonymous PSC magazine editorial review team that evaluated each Hot Product submission.

Hot Product evaluations focus on three criteria: (1) will it make a job or task easier or more efficient? (2) will it improve safety and health for telecommunicators and field personnel; and, (3) will it provide solutions for newly identified needs? Fifty-seven companies submitted 73 products for consideration in the Hot Products award program at the APCO 2012 Expo and 25 entries were selected as Hot Products.

The TC8938 allows emergency personnel to pick up the master phone and immediately ring all remote telephone extensions. Any remote phone can join the conference by picking up the phone. The remote phone will keep ringing until either the handset is off hook or the master phone restores on-hook status.

The TC8938 receives a 2-wire analog POTS signal from the master port and broadcasts it to up to 7 telephone extensions. A PBX is not required. It provides one master FXS port for initiating the phone call and 7 FXS extension ports, each connecting to 2-wire analog phones. Each remote port provides its own ring generator that rings a conventional 2-wire analog phone.
