TC Communications’ Analog Broadcaster/Bridge Chosen for “Hot Products” Award at APCO Expo

11/04/2013

An innovative Emergency Phone Line Bridge from TC Communications has been chosen by Public Safety Communications (PSC) magazine as a winner in its annual “Hot Products” award program.

Intended for Public Safety applications, the new TC8928 Analog Broadcaster/Bridge receives a single 2/4-wire 600 ohm analog signal and broadcasts it to up to 7 remote analog lines. It can be used in conjunction with the TC3846-6 Analog IP Gateway to broadcast over Ethernet networks.

The TC8928 is typically used by radio dispatchers to multicast messages from a single source to remote audio devices such as radio consoles, speakers and repeaters. For example, the TC8928 could be used by a radio dispatcher in a large fire station to broadcast a message to multiple speakers located in separate fire engine bays throughout the building.

The Hot Products award program was conducted during the August 2013 Association of Public Safety Communications Officials-International Conference & Exposition in Las Vegas by an anonymous PSC magazine editorial review team that evaluated each Hot Product submission.

Hot Product evaluations focus on three criteria: (1) will it make a job or task easier or more efficient? (2) will it improve safety and health for telecommunicators and field personnel; and, (3) will it provide solutions for newly identified needs?

The Analog Broadcaster/Bridge provides one host port, up to seven analog ports and operates in two modes.

In NORMAL mode, channel 1 (host port) can receive all analog signals from channels 2 to 8. The analog signal from channel 1 will be broadcast to all channels 2 through 8; however, the analog signals from channels 2 to 8 can only go to channel 1. In BRIDGE mode, all of the analog signals from all channels 1 to 8 can communicate with each other at the same time.
