TC Passes ISO Re-Certification Audit but Looks to Continual Improvement

04/12/2024

TC Communications is pleased to announce that we have passed our ISO re-certification audit, which took place over two days in mid-March. Our ISO 9001:2015 certification has been renewed through February 2027, with surveillance audits scheduled for February 2025 and February 2026.

What Is ISO?

ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, is a globally recognized independent organization that sets international standards in the industrial and commercial sectors of the world. ISO conducts third-party audits of companies within these fields to evaluate the quality, safety, and security of products and services, as well as occupational health and safety, to ensure that management systems have been effectively implemented.

There are numerous ISO standards that can be applied to businesses and organizations. In this case, TC Communications was audited according to the ISO 9001 standard, which evaluates the compliance of an organization’s Quality Management System (QMS). ISO 9001 is the most widely used quality management system standard in the world, with more than 1 million certificates issued to organizations in 189 countries.

Why Certification Matters

As a company with B2B relationships around the world, and one providing mission-critical solutions, TC Communication strives to build customer trust and maintain a commitment to quality and safety according to an internationally recognized standard. Renewing our ISO certification keeps us diligently working towards implementing better and more effective processes that benefit everyone involved.

Aiming for Continual Improvement

The ISO 9001 audit measures several key performance indicators (KPIs), including customer satisfaction for orders and technical support, on-time delivery, vendor assessments, product defects on the production line, and customer returns (return merchandise authorizations, or RMAs).

The audit looks at six key business areas:

  1. Management
  2. Internal audits
  3. Corrective actions
  4. Continuous improvement
  5. Operational control
  6. Resources

The pre-sale and manufacturing process has always been closely monitored with detailed processes and stringent requirements. TC Communications has been certified for over 20 years, beginning in 2003. The products and market have evolved over the years, and this impacts the entire creation process, from product development and sourcing down to manufacturing and shipping. The continual improvement mentality keeps each of the departments regularly evaluating processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. This impacts each of the categories and is reflected in a more positive customer experience.

The focus for 2024 will be continued improvement in cross-departmental data visibility and repeated emphasis on ISO 9001 awareness and a risk-based mentality.
