IWCE 2024 in Orlando Holds Value Despite Dwindling Attendance

It’s another successful IWCE in the books! Thank you to everyone who visited our booth, both in-person and virtually. Here is a recap in case we missed you:

IWCE (International Wireless Communications Expo) is one of the premier critical communications events in North America. Taking place from March 27-28 in Orlando, the expo was preceded by two days of conferences covering industry topics like first-responder communications, transportation, utilities, and more.

This year, our main event theme was saving money with leased line replacement through asset optimization using TC Communications products like the JumboSwitch® and Mini Channel Bank. Equipped with a prominent backlit display and tagline, our booth attracted a wide range of visitors at different points in the funnel, from those unfamiliar with our products to managers and decision-makers interested in beginning a sales dialogue. We handed out dozens of our exclusive Product Matrix, which has an interactive version online.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the trade show was receiving a surfeit of high praise from critical existing users, including contractors and end users, who raved about TC Communications’ pre- and post-support. We were also delighted to receive multiple repeat visits from new people who would often return to follow up with their technical teams in tow to kickstart more in-depth discussions.

Despite the value of interacting with new and old customers, there seemed to be a collective uncertainty about the industry going forward, particularly among radio dealers. Much of the conversation in these circles was related to the massive AT&T cellular outage in February, which has only exacerbated mounting concerns about cybersecurity, despite that not being the cause. Telecom operators are also grappling with rising energy costs and regulatory uncertainty.

These factors and a growing number of big names declining to return to IWCE likely contributed to a still healthy but noticeably thinner event attendance, which appears to be a trend. For the time being, however, TC Communications finds the opportunity to meet with new and existing customers to be worth the trip, as we deeply appreciate all our customers. We look forward to attending IWCE 2025 in Las Vegas.
