Exceeding industry standards

The JumboSwitch® is available as an industrial grade product manufactured with specialized components, connectors and circuitry, complying with all industry environmental and Security standards. This ensures reliable operation in the event of wide temperature swings, electromagnetic interference (EMI), radio interference, vibrations, or moisture and humidity fluctuations. Con-formal coating is optional.

On-site testing

TC Comm’s Engineering Department features a variety of sophisticated on-site testing equipment to verify that its Industrial Grade products meet the most demanding environmental and RFI/EMI requirements. As such, every TC Communication’s product passes through "live operating temperature" testing before it is shipped. Also each unit is connected to an operating BER tester to ensure error-free operation while the temperature chamber cycles from -40ºC to 80ºC during the 24 hour testing period.

Transportation

NEMA TS-2

NEMA TS-2 refers to National Electrical Manufacturers Association certification for Traffic Control Equipment.

Electrical utility substations

IEC 61850-3

The IEC 61850 standard refers to communications networks and systems in substations and covers all aspects of the communications between devices in the substation and the related systems. IEC61850-3 refers to IEC 870-2-2, "Telecontrol equipment and systems – part 2: Operating conditions – section 2: Environmental conditions (climatic, mechanical and other non-electrical influences)." Ethernet products must meet or exceed IEC 61850specifications to be compliant.

IEEE 1613

The IEEE1613 standard defines environmental conditions in electric power substations and provides a foundation for designing and evaluating communications networking devices to be installed.
