TC Communications specializes in Utility networking solutions. It offers both Ethernet and Legacy products to transport T1, Telephone, Serial and Ethernet in Power Utilities, Substations, Hydro and Water Treatment Plants.

A wide variety of products combine to handle all popular interfaces such RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, Telephone FXO/FXS, 2W/4W Analog (600 Ohm), T1/E1, T3/E3, 10/100/1000 Ethernet and many others. Utility products exceed all pertinent standards including IEC 61850-3, IEEE 1613 and NERC CIP.

TC Communication’s flagship Ethernet product, the JumboSwitch, is ideally suited for common Utility applications including SCADA, Teleprotection, Substation Automation and IP Security. Its Modular Industrial Ethernet Gigabit platform supports real-time critical applications, such as Teleprotection, SCADA, Motion Controls and VoIP control systems.

For example, the JumboSwitch offers two interface cards for Teleprotection over Ethernet/IP applications:

• A G.703-over-IP Gateway with less than 5 msec latency, end-to end. (TC3846-1)
• A "Turbo" Serial-over-IP card with less than 3 msec latency, end-to end. (TC3847-3)

Because the JumboSwitch takes full advantage of modern capabilities and functionalities available with today’s Ethernet switch technology, it can be used in almost any mission-critical application one may encounter in today’s automation environment.
